
James F. Gadfield, 85, of Arlington Avenue died at home Monday morning, August 11, 2003 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Mr. Gadfield was born March 5, 1918 in Mansfield, Ohio to Charles and Flossie Zaebst Gadfield and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1936 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and an Eagle Scout with Troop 5. He was a WWII Army veteran serving with the 695th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the Normandy invasion and European campaign. He was retired from Powell Supply and was owner/operator of Gadfield Power Tool.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Webber Gadfield of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Debbie Gadfield of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandchildren, Christopher Gadfield of Columbus, Chad Gadfield of Mansfield and Brenna Gadfield Haskin of Osowatamie, Kansas; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Virginia Haskin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Janet Kimes.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services to be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. conducted by longtime friend Rev. Lester A. Vnasdale. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Home Care & Hospice.
