
James D. Ramsey, Sr. of Mansfield died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at Mifflin Care Center after an extended illness. Mr. Ramsey was born February 11, 1917 in Hansford, West Virginia living in the Mansfield area since 1959. Prior to retirement, James owned and operated Ramsey's Gulf Service Stations at Orange & Newman and Ashland Road. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Carrie L. Ramsey of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy & Jim Rogers of Chesapeake, West Virginia, Kelly & Jr. Price of Cross Lanes, West Virginia and Kathey & Jerry Mack of Ashland, Ohio; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. & Charlotte Ramsey of Mansfield, Bill & Melba Ramsey of Cross Lanes, West Virginia and Larry & Sherry Ramsey of Mansfield; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Swires of N. Augusta, South Carolina and Mildred Ramsey of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Orville & Elizabeth Duncan Ramsey; two brothers, Thomas and Curtis Ramsey; and an infant granddaughter, Susie Ramsey.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 3-5 and
7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Ross Wiseman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
