Jane Peyton Kelly passed away at her home on New Year’s Eve surrounded by her family and best friend, Jane Glaze. At the age of 66, Jane lost her 3 1/2 year battle against cancer. Throughout that time, as in her whole life, many cherished memories were made while attending her grandson’s activities; while adventuring out daily with her mother and husband; while traveling to South Carolina to see her daughter; while spending evenings with her son; and while being so lovingly taken care of by her husband Scott.
Jane was born on January 6, 1947 to Lloyd and Phyllis Peyton in West Liberty, Kentucky. While attending school in Florida, she met her husband of 48 years, whom she married right out of high school. Jane and Scott have a daughter, son, and four grandchildren who were the love of her life.
She was employed 23 years at Ohio Transmission and Pump before adventuring out with her husband into their own business. They purchased Kelly’s Driving Range in 1997 and expanded the business to include South Main Storage in 1999. This business was sold in 2005 and was followed by their purchase of Munchies on Route 430 in 2007, which they owned until Jane’s diagnosis with Cancer.
During all this time, Jane was active with her mother and daughter in her hobby and passion of crafts, and enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales. Outside of her deep love for family, Jane and Scott loved to travel. During their time together they had the opportunities to visit the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii. She attended the Little Washington Congregational Church.
Jane was loving wife, mother, daughter and friend and was a generous person to all she came in contact with during her life.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Kelly of Mansfield, Ohio; her daughter and her husband, Tami and Roger Lucas of Greenville, South Carolina; her son and his wife, Doug and Heather Kelly of Mansfield, Ohio; her grandchildren, Zackary and Mitchell Kelly, and Nicholas and Benjamin Lucas; her mother, Phyllis Ohler of Mansfield, Ohio; her brothers, Tom and his wife, Penny Peyton and Glen and his wife, Jane Peyton, both of Mansfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Peyton and step-father, Edd Ohler.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. at the Life Celebration Reception Center, 129 S. Main St., Mansfield. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
At her request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Long Hollow Christian Church, 256 Long Hollow Church Rd., Pennington Gap, VA 24277.
Jane will be deeply missed!
