Janet M. Eaton, 75, of Mansfield, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Village Care Center in Galion after a long battle with lung cancer. Born April 21, 1933 in Marblehead, she was the daughter of John and Antoinette "Nettie" Ontko Dziak. She graduated from Danbury Township High School and she attended Bowling Green State University. As a young adult, she enjoyed being a cub scout den mother. During her marriage to Clarence Eaton, she enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, and raising their two children. She reentered the workforce after 16 years as a housewife, attended classes at North Central Technical College, and eventually became Therm-O-Disc's Payroll Administrator, supervising the many branches. She received the YMCA TWIN award for business women in 1989. Retirement afforded her time to enjoy her own pursuits. Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. As an avid Cleveland Indians fan, she kept her own stats for many of the games, and enjoyed keeping up on current events. Her collies provided companionship.
She is survived by two daughters, Babette Mark Verbsky of Lebanon, Ohio, and Jennifer Dan Seitz of Ontario, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julia, Brian, Emily, and Allison Seitz, all of Ontario, and Max and Nina Verbsky, both of Lebanon; two sisters, Rita Don Rutz of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Jean Bill Vaughan of Whitehouse; five nieces and nephews; and special friend, Evie Wagner of Ontario. She was preceded in death by her father, John Dziak; step-father, Oren Fish; ex-husband, Clarence Eaton; mother, Antoinette "Nettie" Ontko Dziak Fish; and niece, Linda Rutz Little, who like Janet, battled lung cancer.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Das, Dr. Gardner, Village Care Center, Home Care Matters Hospice, special clergy Joel Sanchez with Home Care Matters Hospice, T.J. McNew with Fresh Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, Tony Pingitore with Crossroads Community Church, and numerous individuals who assisted Janet and her family in recent months.
