Janice Hamilton

Janice Marie Slater Hamilton, R.N., 62, of Fredericktown, Ohio died Wednesday morning, April 9, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Hamilton was born March 19, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Roger and Mary Elizabeth Childress Slater and has lived in the Mansfield area for more than 40 years. She was a member of Stewart Road Church of God. She graduated from Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 and did her graduate work at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Hamilton was a registered nurse for the Mansfield area for over 30 years, employed with People's Hospital and later at Mifflin Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Hamilton, whom she married June 1, 1968 at the First Church of the Open Bible in Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Philisha and Dave Riddell of Brisbane, Australia; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Connie Hamilton of Arizona and Brent and Laura Hamilton of Ashland; one step-daughter and stepson-in-law, Diane and Rob Casteel of Columbus; two grandsons and one granddaughter, David Alan Cunningham of Marblehead, Ohio, Ashley Brooke and Braeden Thomas Riddell of Brisbane, Australia; a step granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kari and Paul Rowlands of Delaware, Ohio; five step grandsons, Ron, Duane, Joshua and Tyler Hamilton and Nathan Kyle Casteel; three step great-grandsons and six step great-granddaughters; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Donna Slater of California; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Barry, Diana Bannert, Merry and Wade Broyles, all of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and a brother-in-law.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors today, April 13, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services to be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Beady, Rev. Dr. Porter B. Richards Jr. and Stephen Hamilton. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
