
Jay Earl Brinley, 77, of Bellville died Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2002 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Brinley was born September 28, 1925 in Richland County and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. He worked as a maintenance person with the City of Mansfield Lahm Airport until his retirement. Jay attended Pleasant Grove Community Church and liked the outdoors and bowling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Gower Brinley; a son, Dennis Brinley and his fiancée, Jerilyn Johns of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; a daughter, Dianna Grogg of Bellville; grandchildren, Rachel Grogg, Rob Grogg, Brian Renwick, Nathan Renwick, Gary Renwick, Jacob Brinley, and Jessica Brinley; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Betty Brinley and Russell and Rita Brinley, all of Mansfield and Dale and Olga Brinley of Lexington; four sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn Whisler, Glenda and Richard Phipps, Doris and Lester Gillum and Patricia and Kenneth Wheitner, all of Mansfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay E. and Sophia Schelk Brinley; two brothers, Stanley and Roy Brinley; two sons, Mark and Bryan Brinley; and an infant daughter.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, November 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Joseph Payton. Military graveside services will be observed at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Community Church or the American Heart Association.
