Jay H. Marchant, 74, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Monday morning, July 1, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Marchant was born January 19, 1928 in Mansfield to the late Charles and Delphia Harmon Marchant, living his entire life in the area. Until his retirement, he was employed as a salesman with Cooper Industries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, loved watching NASCAR racing and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Gar and Beth Marchant of Mansfield; two daughters, Gwen Marchant and Gay Marchant, both of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Seth Marchant, Neely M. Smith, and Adam and Jeremy Marchant; and one brother, Charles Marchant. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Marchant; brother, David Marchant; and his parents, Charles and Delphia Marchant.
There will be no services at Wappner Funeral Directors.
