

Jean graduated from Fairview High School in 1940 and continued her education at The Ohio State University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. After two years at Ohio State University, she married Richard Steiner on October 24, 1942. Later, she finished her education earning her Bachelor degree in Education which enabled her to teach, which was her true love. Jean taught Kindergarten in the Mansfield City Schools for 22 years encouraging, loving and helping young minds.
Jean loved her church and her many church friends. She especially enjoyed her "Circle" friends who met once a month where they would inspire each other. Special relationships with dear friends filled her life with love and happiness.
Her family time was very precious and included family dinners, babysitting and vacationing together. Jean and her husband, Dick, enjoyed their winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, their second home. The last seven years were spent at Primrose Retirement Community where she enjoyed meeting new friends and watching her dvds each day.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Mike) Dorner of Mansfield and Rick (Becki) Steiner of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Addington, Cy (Tara) Dorner, Amy (Randy) Crawford and Adam Steiner; along with six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Paige, Kalia, Beckett, Haleigh and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dick Steiner; their oldest son, Ron (Chris) Steiner; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 12 N. Diamond St., Mansfield. Rev. Donald Kuntz will conduct the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association or OhioHealth Hospice.
