Jeffrey Phelps

Jeffrey M. Phelps, 58, of Bellville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at his son's Greenwich home after battling a terminal illness. Jeff was born December 13, 1952, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was employed at Moore's Lumber for 35 years until retiring and worked the last 6 years with SDDS. He was a member of AMVETS Post 26, and loved to travel. Jeff was a devoted fan of NASCAR; his favorite driver was #24 Jeff Gordon. He often frequented local dirt track races with his sons, Jeff, Brian, Jason, and his brother Steve. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Central Ohio.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Sondae Phelps of Bellville, three sons, Jeffrey M. Crystal Phelps of Mansfield, Brian C. Kathy Phelps of Greenwich, and Jason C. Corinna Phelps of Mansfield, his mother, Mary A. Phelps of Mansfied; his brothers, Kevin Phelps of Crestline and Steve Phelps of Mansfield; as well as his seven grandsons, Brock C. Phelps and Tanner M. Phelps, Kross M. R. Phelps and Kragen J. M. Phelps, Blake C. Phelps and Zackery R. Phelps, and Joseph Smith. He is also survived by 6 step-children, David, Amber, Alicia, Ashleigh, Angel, and Dustin. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville "Bud" G. Phelps.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
