
Jerry 'Ham' Mollett, 77, of Mansfield died Friday evening, October 26, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Mollett was born September 27, 1924, in Paintsville, Kentucky, living in the Mansfield area the past 55 years. Mr. Mollett serviced in the U.S. Army from September 15, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1946. He was a brick mason and retired from Empire Detroit Steel after 35 years of service. Earlier in life, Mr. Mollett loved to hunt with his dogs and continued to care for his dogs throughout the years while also enjoying gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ella Mae Horn Mollett of Mansfield; his only son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Jr. and Sandy Mollett of Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Ann and Matthew Mayer of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Nicole Yates, Mackenzie, Morgan and Matthew II Mayer all of Mansfield and Kasey and Cody Mollett of Dallas, Texas; one great-grandson, Skyler of Mansfield; sister, Deloris Mills of Mansfield; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry & Sarah J. Spears Mollett; two daughters, Brenda Joyce Mollett in 1974 and Linda D. Mollett Yates in 1991; five brothers, Carl Smith, Haskell Mollett, James Mollett, Forest Mollett and Edgar Mollett; and two sisters, Amanda Potter and Bessie Blevins.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, October 29 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Glenn M. Phillips and Deacon Darold Harless. Burial will follow in Windsor Park Cemetery.
