Joann Mathews

Joann was born on December 23, 1931 in Bucyrus, Ohio. She was the daughter of Charles and Alice (Scott) Taylor. In her younger years, Joann loved horseback riding at Cedar Creek Ranch and loved skiing at Snow Trails. She lived in this area most of her life, and worked in retail throughout her career. She was a 1949 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. Joann loved and adored her family and her animals, her precious cat, Kiki and her precious birds that she fed everyday. Joann was kind and thoughtful always sending thank you notes for everything, even when you came to visit her.

Joann leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Deb Carlson of Tampa; her son, Mark (Cathy Walters) Mathews of Mansfield; her grandchildren, Eric Carlson, Sarah and Max Vest, Daniel and Kris Mathews, Jordan and Spencer Whisler, Mark Mathews, and Jill and Christian Mauk; and her sisters-in-law, Cathy Taylor and Sue Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Chuck Taylor and Mike Taylor; and her son-in-law, Thomas Carlson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County or the Ohio Bird Sanctuary. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Mathews family.
