When JoAnne lost her dear son T. Andrew Miller, died age 24, she became mother in heart to others. We are especially in debt to Rick Smith who was always there for JoAnne after T. Andrew’s death. Rick, his dear wife Connie, and her lifelong friend, Norma were there to attend her death. We are also grateful for friend, Alan, who also helped JoAnne through the years doing repairs and helping with chores and for friend, Susan, who was always there for JoAnne. For these and so many more we are forever grateful.
JoAnne was truly a daughter of the city of Mansfield. Born and raised in Mansfield, she lived her life there until the end. Her life work was serving the town of Mansfield. She started out as a meter maid, then for the Police Department, a matron for the jail, then finally the Mansfield Supplies and Utilities, including the role as dispatcher.
JoAnne was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, where she excelled. Sr. Josepha went out of her way to point out JoAnne was “definitely college material.” But medical concerns blocked that pathway. JoAnne kept up with her high school classmates and friends. She enjoyed being part of the events and contributing to the events.
JoAnne loved to dance. After our mom, she was our dad’s favorite dance partner. JoAnne treasured her brothers and sisters. She would reach out to all, through thick and thin including our sister, Diana, in Florida, keeping her updated-on family news. When Michael came back to Mansfield, she provided a home. When Michael had his stroke and had to be in long-term care, JoAnne went every day to visit and keep him company and reached out to all his caretakers while she was there. JoAnne also had a soft spot for her cousins. When cousin, Gaynelle, was an inpatient at the end of her life, JoAnne was found bedside daily. JoAnne also enjoyed her dear pets and took care of many feral animals.
JoAnne was a devoted Catholic, attending church daily for rosary and mass. She used what money she had for masses said for her beloved deceased family and friends.
She is survived by three siblings, Bonita (William) Portier, Father Matthew Krempel, and Steven (Mary) Krempel. JoAnne was preceded in death by her son, T. Andrew Miller; beloved parents, Aloysius A. Krempel and Jane Krempel (Stockert); older sister, Diana Krempel; older brother, Michael Krempel; beloved husband, Tom Miller; beloved husband, Roger Hoover; and special friends, Paul Wheeler and Tony Carvetta.
JoAnne, we miss you so much, hope you are dancing and celebrating with our family and friends that have already crossed over.
Mass of Christian Burial, celebration of life and interment will be confirmed later. We are projecting a goal of April 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family.
