

John Ebeling, 68, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Sunday morning, February 1, 2015. He was born June 21, 1946, in Kermit, Texas and spent a majority of his younger years in Montana.
John was very patriotic and joined the U.S. Army, serving four tours in Vietnam. John had a huge, generous heart and was a family man to the core. Blessed with a loving wife and six wonderful children, he always had their best interests at heart and the times spent with them were the most treasured of his life. John shared his wonderful sense of humor and great cooking skills with family and friends alike.
He was a member of Journey Life Center for over 32 years. His love of the Lord was evident in his every day life. He enjoyed camping and traveling, with cruising being his favorite way to see new places. Attending crafts shows was an enjoyable way to spend time and make new friends.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Starr (Hall) Ebeling: three sons, James Ebeling of Mansfield, Jason Ebeling of CA and John (Jennifer) Ebeling II of Mansfield; three daughters, Colette Graham of MD, Starletta (Richard) Cole and Shelly (Gregory) Brown. both of Lexington; nineteen grandchildren; a brother, Robert Ebeling of MT, a sister, Bernice Stevens of MT; his mother-in-law, Elsie Hall of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Dawn Kelly of Bellville; two brothers-in-law, Derrell (Earlene) Hall and Garold Hall, both of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear relatives. He is also survived by special friends, Becky Pardue of TX, Brett Cole of Mansfield and Beth Ebeling of Shelby.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Louella (Anderson) Ebeling; a sister, Joan Moore; a brother, Bill Ebeling; his father-in-law, Avery Hall; and a nephew, Gary Hall.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. Additional visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Journey Life Center, 2578 State Route 39, Shelby, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Bruce A. Philippi will conduct the service. The Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will present military honors. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
