

John E. "Jack" Ebert, 80, of Ashland, died early Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Brethren Care Village. He was born February 1, 1936, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Charles William and Elizabeth (Ingmand) Ebert.
He graduated from Miami University and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Jack was the Vice President of Ingmand Insurance Agency and retired on January 30, 2006 after 42 years. Being a very involved citizen of Ashland, he was a member of many organizations including: Young Men's Business Club where he served as Past President and Past Treasurer; University Club of Ashland where he served as Past President and Past Treasurer; Ashland County Chapter of the American Red Cross where he was Chapter Chairman; Ashland YMCA Board of Directors and Board of Trustees and was chairman of both; and Ashland Cemetery Association where he was Past President and Past Vice President. He assisted in growing and maintaining the United Way, Boy Scouts and Ashland Pony League through various fund raising efforts.
He enjoyed being involved with young people and was a member Old Trail Boy Scouts of America serving as Past Finance Chairman and Past Sustaining Membership Chairman. He was awarded the Distinguished Merit Award and Silver Beaver Award from Johnny Appleseed Council of the Boys Scouts of America. Jack was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, coin collecting, woodworking and reading. His most favorite activity was being with family and friends and relaxing at the beach.
He is survived by his wife, Judith "Judy" (Halama) Ebert; children, John (Anne) Ebert, Cathy (Mark) Stoneburner and Joann (David) Lindner; grandchildren, Jennifer Ebert, Emily Ebert, Benjamin Ebert, Jacob Stoneburner, Natalie Stoneburner, Olivia Stoneburner, Caleb Stoneburner, Avery Lindner, Andrew Lindner and John Lindner; two brothers, William (Shirley) Ebert and Richard (Linda) Ebert; sister, Sara Galbraith; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Ebert.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 4, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center St., Ashland. Rev. Frederick P. Gibbs and Rev. Michael Koch will conduct the service. The family will greet friends in Jack's Place following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Chapter of the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America or Ashland Cemetery Association.
