

John "Johnny" S. Madden, 67, passed away Tuesday evening, October 23, 2018, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born July 17, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Paul C. and Jean A. (Crager) Madden.
He graduated in 1969 from Madison High School. Johnny was a very hard worker and retired from AK Steel. In 1991, he opened a business with his brother, Energy Technologies, where he was currently working as Manufacturing Manager. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and researched everything thoroughly.
Johnny was a very generous, loving and kind man who gave good counsel to anyone seeking his advice. He enjoyed helping others and was a genuine, non-judgmental person whom you could trust entirely. On July 20, 2000, he married Lisa Castline and started a wonderful adventure. He had a wide variety of interests including: fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, cooking, grilling, boating and camping. Outdoors was where he felt most at peace. He learned to process his own deer meat from his hunting activities. Riding his Harley and listening to rock and roll music were two of his favorite ways to spend his free time.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lisa Madden. five children, Andrea Madden (fiancé, Jimmy Skinner) of Mansfield, Jesseca Madden and Jillian Madden, both of Mifflin, Robert Madden (fiancée, Susan) of Dublin and Christopher (Kim) Madden of Bellville; three grandchildren, Lily Skinner, Abigail Madden and Quaylynn Madden; a brother, Dan (Shirley) Madden of Ontario; a niece, Jennifer Madden; a nephew, Andrew (Kara) Madden; three great-nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Carol (Herman) Lester; his father-in-law, Cliff (Alice) Castline; many dear relatives and friends; and his loyal and loving employees.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
