

John Lamp, 74, of Mansfield, died Thursday evening, September 2, 2004, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born October 23, 1929, in Yugoslavia to the late Henry and Elizabeth Vitkovic Lamp and was a Mansfield area resident since 1950. He was formerly employed at Richland Brick Company for 32 years and retired from Taylor Metal. He enjoyed working outdoors and gardening. John was a member of Apostolic Christian Church, Middle Bellville Road, where he was a dedicated Sunday school and Bible class teacher for 36 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War in France. On February 2, 1958, he married Elizabeth Bitsch, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children and their spouses, Rick and Sandy Lamp of Mansfield, Henry and Connie Lamp, Hilda Haering, all of Lexington, Irene and Lawrence Yarger of Mansfield, JoAnn Lamp, Monica and Bob Gutai, all of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Trudy and Dennis Fox of Cheshire, Connecticut; twelve grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five brothers and their spouses, Phillip Lamp, Karl and Mary Lou Lamp, Frank and Linda Lamp, Arnold and Debbie Lamp, all of Mansfield and Ernie Lamp of Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Johnson of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law, Rose Lamp and Juliane and her husband, Vilmos Nemeth, all of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry, Fred, Adam and Peter Lamp; and two sisters, Katherine and Hermina Lamp.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, September 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle Bellville Road. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church Rest Home.
