
John R. McCune, Sr., died Friday, June 24, 2011 at his home after complications from surgery. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 1, 1944. John retired from GM after 36 years and was self-employed in diversified businesses. John's forte' was politics and he was a staunch labor union advocate. He should be remembered for his love of his family, commitment to the union and a prosperous Richland County. John was a "powerful communicator" and will be remembered fondly.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne Parisi McCune; sons, Johnny Jr. Lori and Matt McCune; grandchildren, Codi, Jordan, Johnny III and Ryan. He is also survived by a foster daughter-in-law, Sheri Mike McMillan and foster grandchildren, Sabrina and Justin Black. John leaves behind two brothers, George E. and Richard McCune; two aunts, Jolliette and Juanita; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George S. and Inez Stone McCune.
Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday. Private family viewing will be observed from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or a charity of the donor's choice.
