
Johnie was born on March 17, 1918 in New Edinburgh, Arkansas. She was formerly employed at Stratbury in Galion and as an Area Circulator for the News Journal. Mrs. Green was an avid bingo player for many years in the Mansfield area. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Doyle Coats in 1944 in Arkansas. After moving to Mansfield in 1947, she married Paul Raymond Green of Danville on October 16, 1948. Mr. Green died in November of 1996. Mrs. Johnie Green was also preceded in death by two sons, Merlyn Delbert Coats in 1989 and Willie Edward Coats in May 2006; and by a special granddaughter, Kimela Sue Smith.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived for the past year, Carolyn and Howard Shrader, daughters, Paulette Hankins and Mary Heminger of Mansfield, Pat Dick Johnston of Galion; son, Bobby Doyle Coats, and his family residing in Warren, Arkansas; a large loving family of 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at K.E. McCartney Memorial Building, 16 S. Park St., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
