He earned two Bachelor degrees-one in Biology and the other in Zoology-from Penn State University. Jonathan remained a Nittany Lions fan all his life. He worked for WIL Research in Ashland for 20 years. Intelligence wasn't his only talent. He was artistic and very musically inclined. Jonathan was often listening to music in a variety of genres, often allowing neighbors to enjoy his music, whether they wanted to or not. An animal lover, he enjoyed the peace of fishing and caring for his eccentric pets. Most of all, he treasured his time with family and friends.
Jonathan is survived by four children, Joe Hurley (Brittany Howard), Katie Hurley, Kara Hurley and Kim Hurley (Matt Bunn); his children's mother and first wife, Karen Steele; four grandchildren, Anna, Bronx, Cameron and Caegan; his parents, Russell and Carol Hurley; three siblings, Mike (Cyndi) Hurley, Kevin (Judy) Hurley, and Beth Hurley; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and his beloved dog, Gilligan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diz Hurley.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family
