
Joseph H. Daugherty, 92, of Mansfield, died Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born October 7, 1916, in Prospect, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John H. and Sophia Langhurst Daugherty. Joe retired with more than 30 years of service as District Manager with Massey Ferguson Limited, a farm equipment sales company. He served his country as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged in 1945. Joe enjoyed woodworking and made small cars and trucks. Blessed with a great sense of humor, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the holidays, and making them laugh. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist church and enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Kennedy Daugherty; daughter, Coleen Michael Behr of Mansfield; son, Joseph W. Lorie Daugherty of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Matthew Mary Behr, Aaron Danielle Ralph Behr, Joshua Jessica Behr, Danielle Daugherty and Jon Daugherty, all of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond Daugherty.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Streiff officiating. Military honors will be presented by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity United Methodist church.
