Joyce Maurer

Joyce E. Maurer, 66, of Ashland, died March 27, 2008. She passed away surrounded by her family Thursday evening at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was born April 11, 1941 in Ashland to Paul E. and Vera F. Kauffman Sloan. She graduated in 1959 from Union High School. Joyce retired from Abbott Laboratories and after her retirement, refinished antique furniture in her home. She loved spending time on her patio, completing crossword puzzles and watching NASCAR. Joyce enjoyed her flowers and most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynn M. Bailey of Ashland; stepchildren, Brian Maurer, Tammy Dennis Bole and Jennifer Gable, all of Ashland; a grandson; nine step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Richard Purdy and Katherine Sloan, all of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Maurer; son, Brian Roice; and her parents.
