Judith E. Rogers, 61, of 506 Meadowdale Dr. died Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield. Mrs. Rogers was born July 12, 1940 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of her life. She was employed with the Jack Studer Insurance Agency. She was a member of Amvets Post #26 Ladies Auxiliary. Judy enjoyed attending sporting events with her husband, especially baseball games at Jacobs Field and track and field events. Each summer she looked forward to attending a dozen or so Indians games. Her favorite players were Kenny Lofton and Omar Vizquel. Dancing at the Amvets and Moose Lodge was another favorite pastime. Stand By Me and My Girl would always gain her attention. She would watch Martha Stewart for hours and was convinced she could do anything. Friends knew that movie star Al Pacino was really her not-so-secret love. Dining at The Skyway East was high on her ''to do'' list. And oh how she enjoyed the annual shopping trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan with her favorite niece, Darlene Shafer. Years ago when she worked for Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Agency, Judy was a better-than-average bowler, a real tough competitor. The past several summers she enjoyed bicycling on the bike trail averaging 20 miles a week. Judy will be missed by her husband, family, many friends and her two pet Maine Coon cats, Molly and Mandy, who simply adored her.
She is survived by her husband, William Rogers of Mansfield; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Craig Raagas of Las Vegas, Nevada and Valerie & Michael Carmel of Carpinteria, California; four grandchildren, Ryan and Allison Raagas and Chelsea and Taylor Carmel; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley & Jerry Meckes of Mansfield and Pat & Sal Chirico of Vandalia, Ohio; a brother, Tom Lightfoot of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Edith Wood Lightfoot; and a sister, Betty Colangelo.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.
