Katharina "Katie" Husty, 86, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 25, 2018, at Oak Grove Manor. She was born in Franzfeld, Yugoslavia, on April 1, 1931, to the late Michael and Johanna (Ley) Koch.
Katie was formerly employed as a housekeeper for several clients. She was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Sons of Herman. Wanting to stay connected to her European roots, she was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz where she made many friends over the years.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her family. They were the lucky ones who had the pleasure of enjoying her fabulous dishes. Christmas cookies were Katie's favorite gift to them. In her free time, she enjoyed Polka music and dancing.
Katie leaves behind two beloved sons, Karl (Barbara) Husty of Vermilion and John (Janet) Husty of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Eric (Kristin) Husty of Lexington, Michelle (Eric) Wallace of Lucas, Bradley Husty of Mansfield, Cameron (Randa) Husty of Virginia, and Samantha (David) Bowling of Lexington; nine great-grandchildren, Rylan, Ethan, Jaxson, Gavin, Braeden, Halle, Lina, Aya and Dawson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Husty, on June 14, 1985.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Cemetery.
