
Kenneth D. Gilmore, 90, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Elmcroft of Medina. Born June 18, 1920 in Gnadenhutton, he was the son of Issac and Maude Randall Gilmore. Kenneth served in WWII in European Theatre with the Army Air Corps and then went on to retire from the Air National Guard in 1978. He was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church and had lived in Mansfield for over forty-five years.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Paula Gilmore of Medina and Tim Sandy Gilmore of Willard; grandchildren, Amanda Singer, Chad Gilmore, Sara Cofer, Adam Gilmore, Mike Gilmore, and Glen Gilmore; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert Gilmore of Lisbon. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Galbreath Gilmore; infant daughter, Linda; son, Kenneth Gilmore, Jr.; infant sister, Elizabeth; sister, Dorothy Roman; and brothers, Donald, Robert, Glenn, and Dean Gilmore.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail.
