

Lauretta J. Taylor, 82, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Mifflin Care Center. She was born on June 7, 1929, to the Late Kenneth L. and Sophia (Hornung) Metz. Though she was area homemaker most of her life, Lauretta did offer her time and cooking talents to the Bird’s Nest, serving lunches. She also was very fond of NASCAR, especially her favorite racers, Darrell Waltrip, and Tony Stewart. She enjoyed the races so much, she even served as a bookkeeper for area stock car races. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary in Mansfield. Lauretta loved to travel, especially to Florida. She loved and enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, who will deeply miss her.
Surviving is her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Charles “Ed” Taylor of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (Larry) Callahan of Phoenix, Arizona, and Susan (Ted) Brissell of Lexington, Ohio; a son, John Taylor of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Jim (Bonnie) Drummond, Laura (Ben) McElvain, Tammy Taylor, Travis Brissell, Katherine (Jeremy) Lawhun, and Lori (Eric) Schultz; nine great-grand children; four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Don (Zella) Metz of Mansfield, Glenn (Judy) Metz of Oakboro, North Carolina, Robert Metz Sr. of Mansfield, and Larry (Donna) Metz of Mansfield; a sister, Jerry Hunter of Mansfield; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding Lauretta in her death, were her parents; two brothers, Kenneth Metz Jr. and Roger Metz; and two sisters, Jeannie Fredericks, and Charlotte Rachel.
Friends may visit at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, on Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011 from 2:00-5:00 PM. Funeral services, honoring Lauretta’s life will be held at 1:00 PM in the funeral home on Monday, November 28, 2011. Following the services, burial will take place in Mansfield Cemetery.
