Leo J. Ouellette, 85, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Ashland Samaritan Hospital. Born February 14, 1924 in Binglet, Ontario, Canada, he was the son of James and Elvira Ouellette. He was a member of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church and retired as a Longshoreman in New York, New York. Leo enjoyed playing horseshoes and is even in the New York State Horseshoe Hall of Fame. He was also a former wrestler who wrestled in the Olympics. An avid bowler, he also enjoyed carpentry and building.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Hager Ouellette; eight children; numerous grandchildren; two nieces, Betty Jo DeRossette, and Dr. Sarah DeRossette, both of Durham, North Carolina; several nieces living in Canada; and special loved dog, "Missy". he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and 11 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Mike Wilson of Lincoln Heights Baptist Church.
