
Loren L. 'Larry' Rain, 64, of Mansfield died Tuesday evening, September 9, 2003 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born July 21, 1939 in Mansfield to Lester and Ethel Cecilia Longsdorf Rain and was a lifelong resident. Larry was an arson investigator and assistant chief with Madison Township Fire Department until his retirement and drove school bus for Lexington Schools. He was a member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F. and A.M., Rizpah Chapter #153, OES Past Patron, Baku Grotto Past Monarch, A.R.R.L. where his call sign was WD8IHP, M.A.S.E.R., Skywarn, Section Emergency Coordinator of Ohio, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and amateur radio.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Copeland Rain; two daughters, Lori Looney of Mansfield and Joyce Rain of Cincinnati; two granddaughters, Michelle and Rebecca Looney; special cousins, Bob and Louise Castor; and Buster the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Rick Looney.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, September 12 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Township Rescue Squad.
