

Mabel A. Schmidt, 90, a former resident of Chilton Ave. and Conard House, died Saturday morning, May 22, 2004, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. She was born January 15, 1914, in Washington Township to Charles and Belle Mowry. She retired from Raemelton School as head cook. Mabel graduated in 1931 from Madison High School where she was active in volleyball and basketball. She was a great baseball fan and a follower of the Cincinnati Reds. Mabel spent many summers fishing at Lake Erie. She also was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Terry McKown; two granddaughters and husbands, Brenda and Mike Hoeper of Cincinnati and Laura and Mark Danals of Ontario; five great grandchildren, Jevin and Brett Hoeper, Rachael, Erica and Mitchell Danals; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by John N. Schmidt, husband of 60 years; one daughter, Nancy Jo Schmidt; her parents; three brothers, Harold, Raymond and Lowell Mowry; and three sisters, Helen Fox, Myrtle Bemiller and Hila Ricker.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 27, 2:30 p.m. service, conducted by Rev. Lon McSherley. Burial followed the service at Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's United church of Christ or donor's choice.
