Marie Blanche Derr Swanger, 101, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Mifflin Care Center. Born May 9, 1907, in Loudonville, she was the daughter of late George and Mary Derr. She was an area homemaker her entire life living in Mansfield for many years. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Marie was a longtime resident of Dayspring Assisted Living and most recently resided at Mifflin Care Center. She was an active lady, even at her current age and handled herself throughout her life with grace and dignity.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, special longtime family friends, Adalaide Dorrow Family and the Hemperly Family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Swanger; sisters, Clara V. Powell and Katherine Derr; and brother, Walter Derr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, with Rev. James Walker officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
