She was born August 20, 1928 to W.F. and Mabel Rice and was an Ashland resident and homemaker all of her life. Marilyn graduated from Ashland High School with the class of 1946 and attended Ashland College.
On October 22, 1949, she married James W. Emmons, her "awesome" life partner, who preceded her in death October 13, 2004. She and Jim loved their annual fall trips to the New England states, spring trips to Florida with family and friends and trips to Oglebay with "The Big Four".
Marilyn was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Ashland and the Internos Sunday School class. She was a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital in the gift shop and enjoyed working at Gatherings for her daughter Becky and daughter-in-law Ann.
Marilyn, known to many close friends and family as Mert, enjoyed all her card clubs, mother's club and lunches out with friends. But, most of all she loved following her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's sports activities. Also cherished was her time spent with family and friends at Lake Erie.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy (Al) Hayden of Kentucky and Becky (Jeff) McFarlin of Ashland; two sons, Randy (Susie) Emmons and Rick (Ann) Emmons both of Ashland; ten grandchildren, Heather (Brenden) Nowak, Stacey Hayden, Ryan (Julie) Emmons, Chad (Kari) Emmons, Greg (Missy) Emmons, Seth (Alexandra) Emmons, Erin (Billy) Chandler, Mattie Krispinsky, Tyler McFarlin and MacKenzie McFarlin; and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Billy; and grandson-in-law, Danny Krispinsky.
