Marshall Dean Figley

Marshall Dean Figley, 74, of Ashland, passed away early Friday morning, February 16, 2018, at The Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Campus in Ashland, Ohio. He was born September 18, 1943, in Ashland, Ohio and was an area resident his entire life.

Dean was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1967-1969. After his honorable discharge, he became a self-employed painter, working alongside his brother. They completed several local projects including Archway factory and Bella Bleu's. Adventurous and free spirited, Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing and water skiing.

He is survived by a brother, Richard (Loretta) Figley; sister, Judy Reese; nieces and nephews, Denise, Richard Jr., David, Steve, Jonathan, Laurie, Linda, Mickey and Sherry; his fiancée, Linda Patterson; and best friends, Steve Thomas and Kenny Derr. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn (Pence) and Hugh Figley; and a brother, Howard Manning.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
