

Martha was born June 23, 1924 to the late Curtis and Emma (Sattler) Leiter. She was raised on the family farm in Milton Township in Ashland County. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1942. She married Emery Young on August 1, 1943. A homemaker, she was devoted to helping him on their family farm and raising their three daughters.
Martha served as a 4-H Advisor for many years. She also was a Home Extension Service member for several years. She enjoyed embroidery as a hobby. She loved gardening, cooking and baking. And she was well known for her deviled eggs and chocolate chip cookies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Martha was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Eleanor Lentz Circle, helped with church newsletters and served funeral lunches for 40 years.
Martha had a long, happy life and will be remembered for her strength and loving, generous nature. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife of 69 years, a devoted mother, a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother and a true friend to many. She will be greatly missed and will continue to be remembered in all of our hearts.
Survived by her daughters Patricia (Clayton) Moore of North Ridgeville; Linda (Jerry) Millheim of Westerville and Jeanette (Jack) Lewis of Ashland; five grandchildren, Matthew (Brandi) Moore, Mark Moore, Eric (Marsha) Millheim, Julie (Jerome) Foster and Chris (Deborah) Michel; six great-grandchildren Haley, Beau, Stephen, Ethan, Trey and Jasmine; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Emery, she was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers and grandson, Brandon Michel.
Friends and family may visit from 4-7 p.m, Monday, November 28 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m Tuesday, November 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by 11:00 a.m. funeral services conducted by Pastor Eric Riesen. There will be a luncheon served at the church following the services. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
