Mary Catherine Heckert, 87, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Crystal Care Center. Born April 8, 1920 in Ashland, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Elma May Schindler Mazzotta. She was a member of East Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mary was an avid gardener and in addition to being a homemaker.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James W. "Yogi" and Melissa Heckert of Marengo; three grandchildren, Shawn, James S. and Johnathan Heckert; three sisters, Beverly "Bev" Eddie Bresock of Ashland, Betty Jack Clark and Dottie Herb Todd; special niece, Joyce Jack Morris and cousins, Don Snyder, Roma Them and Janet Gerhart; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C.S. Heckert and a number of brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the East Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Harry Morr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1650 S. Main Street, Mansfield, OH 44907.
