Mary Ellen Hedges

On her way to see the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, Ohio. Mary Ellen Hedges, age 99, was ready to go to see her beloved husband, Verne, who left her too soon on December 7, 2004.

Mary Ellen was born in Mansfield, Ohio on November 4, 1925. She was preceded in death by her father Lester A Miller and mother Pearl M Miller. Also 3 brothers, Richard, Norman and Edward and sister Phyllis (Koepf).

She is survived by her dear son, Verne II (Barb) of Fruita, CO and very dear Grandson, Andrew of Westminster, CO.

She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, class of 1943. She greatly enjoyed working at Kobacker Department store as a cashier and progressed to Office Manager until the store closed. She loved her job.

Mary Ellen enjoyed working in the yard and garden, baking and having lunch with her schoolmates. She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church.

There will be no memorial service per her wishes. "Please remember me as I lived." She will be cremated to combine her ashes with her husband‘s. No flowers please. Any memorials may be sent to First Lutheran Church in Mansfield and earmarked for Youth Services. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Hedges family.
