
Mary Arlene Herman, 84, of Mansfield, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a seven year battle with leukemia. Born November 24, 1922 in Loudonville, she was the daughter of Homer Franklin and Mae Rila Bell Bottomley. She attended Mansfield Schools and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Herman worked many years at Woolworths and Gray's Drug Store candy counter. She found great joy in gardening and flowers, being with her family and grandchildren, and catering weddings in the community. Mrs. Herman was also a member of the Mother's Club and Music Club of Ontario Schools.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Rexford Herman of Mansfield, and John Patrick and Vicki Herman of Crestline; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Herman Swogger of Shelby; grandchildren, Robert Ivory Herman, Sarah Herman, Michael Herman, Philip Swogger, and Jacob Swogger; two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Susan Bottomley of Mansfield, and Homer Bottomley of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law, Mary Bottomley of Tacoma, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Michael Herman in 1988; her parents; brother, Walter Bottomley; and sister-in-law, Joan Bottomley.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Ron Puff and Pastor Don Cox. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
