Mary Hillier

Mary Alice Wentz Hillier, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Canton Regency Retirement Community in Canton, Ohio. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio on December 19, 1919 to Russell and Florence Savors Wentz. She spent most of her life in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1938. In December 1941, she married E. Stanley Throne and he died in January 1945. She then married Robert C. Hillier in July 1950 and he died in March 1996. Mrs. Hillier was a homemaker and a long time member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Mansfield. She was also a member of the Republican Club, Republicans Women's Club, Republican Executive Committee, Methodists Women Club, and a volunteer Election Pole Worker for 35 years.

Surviving Mrs. Hillier are a son, Timothy Cynthia Hillier of Fremont, Ohio; daughter, Diana Marks of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law, Sandra Hillier of Richville, Ohio; and sister, JoAnn Mangeot of Cedarville, Ohio. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Mrs. Hillier was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Anna Wentz; sons, Robert E. Hillier and William C. Hillier; and brother, Russell L. Wentz, Jr.

Friends may call Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Dr. Blake D. Wagner. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
