Mary Maness

Mary J. Maness, 75, of Mansfield, died Wednesday morning June 1, 2005 at her home after an extended illness. Born March 22, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Andrea and Madeline Zammit Buhagiar. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, cooking, and crafts. Mrs. Maness helped her husband manage their construction/consulting business from 1986 to 1998 and also worked as a secretary for an Army Base Commander in Detroit.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey D. and Deena Maness of Ontario, with whom she made her home, and Michael and Lori Moniz of Nebraska; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Launa and Gerry Steinhauer of Grass Lake, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Harvey D. Maness, Justin Taylor, Leah Taylor, Katherine Artz, Morgan Steinhauer, Travis Maness, Stephanie Maness, Kara Moniz, and Amanda Moniz; special friend and caregiver, Kim Rowe and her husband Richard; special friends, Doris and David Carr; special friends who made her smile and laugh, Jeff and Misty Bandy; and one brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Marie Buhagiar of Northville, Michigan. She was preceded in death on May 26, 2002 by her husband, Harvey D. Maness, Sr., whom she married June 17, 1950; her parents; and one brother, Charles Buhagiar.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday June 5, 2005 at the Sherwood Funeral Home in Grass Lake, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sherwood Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Miracle officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the donor's choice in memory of Mary Maness. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with local arrangements.
