

She was born June 30, 1929 in Lula, Mississippi the daughter of Bennie, Sr. and Walter Lee Williams Davis and had resided in Mansfield since 1950.
She was employed in the housekeeping department at Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She was one of Jehovah's witnesses for 48 years and a member of the North Congregation and she enjoyed teaching from the Bible. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Surviving are five sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles and Terri Logan of Mansfield, Lawrence Davis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Alvin Nettles of Mansfield, David Nettles of Mansfield and James Nettles of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three daughters and one son-in-law, Dorothy and Stanley Hawthorne, Joyce Dorsey and Dianna Nettles all of Mansfield; four step children, Barbara Williams and her husband, Provosky, Burnell Nettles, Henry Nettles, Sharon Walker and her husband, Leonard all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 34 grandchildren including three granddaughters whom she raised, LaKwana Williams, Lavonda Nettles and Alyse Dorsey; 16 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are four brothers, Roy Davis, Freddie and Kathy Davis, Johnnie and Anita
Davis and Floyd and Sylvia Davis all of Mansfield; and four sisters, Minnie and J.W. Churn, Emma Davis, Lillie and Sammy Taylor and Brenda and Clarence Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Nettles; two brothers, Bennie Davis, Jr. and James Davis; one sister, Verlene Davis; a step son Joseph Nettles, Jr.; a grandson and two great great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with Ron Hyde officiating. Friends may call at the Diamond Street home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. Friends and family will also be received at the home of her daughter, Dianna Nettles, 490 Michigan Avenue.
