Michael Benson

Michael R. Benson, 31, of 852 Manchester Road died Thursday evening, January 24, 2002 at OSU Hospital, Columbus, Ohio after a lifelong illness. Michael was born June 16, 1970 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. He was a graphic artist with Tridico Sign Company. He was a member of Stinson Church of Christ, Grayson, Kentucky. Michael flew and built radio controlled airplanes and was a member of Mansfield Electronic Flyers and Westerville Model Aeronautics Association. He enjoyed CART racing and was an avid Star Wars collector.

He is survived by his parents, Robert C. & Sharon L. Bowser Benson of Mansfield; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence & Doris Bowser of Ashland; his fiancée, Donita Layne of Grayson, Kentucky; aunts and uncles, Shirley & Rodney Chambers of Millersburg and Jennifer and Gerald McPeek of Galion; a niece, Kimberly DeHaas; a nephew, Corey Chambers; and his favorite cat, Indy. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles & Alfreda Benson.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Olivesburg.
