Born on March 5, 1956, in Fairmont, West Virginia, Michael was one of seven children of the late William Edward Sr. and Macel Regina (Price) Haught. His family later moved to Ohio, where he was raised and spent the majority of his life.
Mike served honorably in the United States Army and carried his deep sense of service and dedication throughout his life. He worked as a Stitcher Operator for both Landoll’s and Sun Printing, devoting more than 20 years of his life to his trade. Known for his strong work ethic and generosity, Mike was always ready to lend a hand or share his knowledge.
A man of many talents, Mike had a gift for fixing almost anything—especially computers. He even built computers for his children, a testament to both his technical skills and his desire to support and empower his family. He also had a deep love of genealogy and spent countless hours researching his family’s history online. In addition, he was an ordained minister and was honored to officiate several weddings for loved ones.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert Lee Haught, William Edward Haught, Jr., and Russell Wayne Haught; his sisters, Deborah Kaye (Haught) Wynn and Cynthia Rose Edmonds; and his son, Richard Searls.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky (Allen) Haught; his sister, Wilma Haught-Sherred; his children, Mark Searls, Brian Searls, Matthew Searls, and Lisa Searls; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory and legacy.
In accordance with Mike's wishes, there will be no formal services. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
