
Michael G. Hoffer, 79, of 1031 Duke Ave. died at his home, Friday, July 13, 2001 after a brief illness. Mr. Hoffer was born November 20, 1921, and was life long resident of Mansfield. He was a carpenter for 55 years retiring from Local Carpenters Union #735. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Surviving is his wife, Leona M. Barth Hoffer whom he married on Feb. 22, 1946; three sons and their spouses, Michael K. and Sonja Hoffer of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Lonnie L. and Lorna Hoffer of North Liberty, Ohio, and Jodie L. and Sheryl Hoffer of Avon, Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie A. and David Briggs of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Michael K. II, Adam A., Karly L., Kevin J. and his wife Tiffany, Tabitha J. and Brock A., Aubrey and Dalton Hoffer; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Billie and Terry Hoffer, both of Mansfield; eight nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Theresa Hoffer; and two brothers, Frank A. and Joseph L. Hoffer.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wappner Funeral Directors are handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
