Michael McBride

Michael Robert McBride, 32, of Cortland, Ohio died unexpectedly Saturday, October 19, 2002 in Warren, Ohio. Michael was born December 28, 1969 in Mansfield, Ohio to Daniel and Barbara McBride. He was a lifelong resident of Mansfield and was baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church. Michael graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1988, where he ran track. As a member of the Linden Pool swim team, he won many trophies in freestyle events. He always enjoyed music and played drums in his youth. Michael graduated from Ohio State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He taught for seven years and loved his students and teaching. He excelled in his graduate course work and was close to receiving his Master's degree in Computer Education from Ashland University. Michael and his brother, David, especially enjoyed traveling and visited many countries around the world. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and an enthusiastic follower of the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Michael enjoyed a relationship with a close circle of friends from early childhood to the present.

Family and friends will always remember Michael's fun-loving and gentle nature, as well as his sensitive spirit. His smile lit up the hearts of the many who loved him.

Besides his parents, Michael is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Lisa McBride of Columbus, Ohio and Mark and Suzy McBride; nephews, Baker and Miles McBride of Mansfield; and special friend, Kristi Dye of Warren, Ohio, who stood by him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Eleanor and John McBride of Ashland; maternal grandparents, Catherine and Floyd A. Huff of Mansfield; and an uncle, Robert Huff of Mansfield, Ohio

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services to be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Clifford J. Schutjer of the First Congregational Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael R. McBride Memorial Fund for the benefit of the clinically depressed in care of The Richland County Foundation, 24 W. Third Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902.
