Mike retired from the United States Army where he served in Korea and did two tours in Vietnam, being awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He then went on to work at Westinghouse in Mansfield and then for AMF in Shelby, retiring in 1983. Mike enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and gardening.
Mike is survived by his son George Blecharz; two daughters, Penny Seay and Gayle Whitmore; seven grandchildren, Bob Hines, Perry Hines, Shelley Hammett, Jeff Hines, Stephanie Stewart, Julie Kelley, and Scott Seay; eleven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Perry) Blecharz; daughter, Susan Smith; son, Robert Whitmore; daughter-in-law, Mary Blecharz; and son-in-law, Gerald Seay.
Visitation will held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Mansfield Memorial Park.
