
Mildred M. Bauer, 88, died unexpectedly at her home on February 18, 2003. She was born April 22, 1914 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Robert Earl and Alice Marks Simms. Mildred was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church and had recently transferred to St. Timothy's Lutheran Church. While at First English, she was involved with the Friendly Friday group, Workday Wednesday, Bible Study, and Sunday School classes. She enjoyed quilting, baking and playing cards.
She is survived by her brother, Roland Simms of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jim Thomas of Mansfield and Kay and Larry Schlett of Sandusky, Ohio; four sweethearts grandchildren, Kim Thomas of Fostoria, Denise and Michael Thompson of Mansfield, Stephanie Schlett and Will Schlett of Sandusky; fifth sweetheart, great-granddaughter, Kailee Thompson of Mansfield; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry W. Bauer in 1974; sister, Mary Lape; and brother, Richard Simms.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday, February 21 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa, that will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
