
Mitchiko Kurbad, 79, of 673 Armstrong Avenue died Wednesday morning, December 3, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield after an extended illness. Mrs. Kurbad was born May 14, 1924 in Naha, Okinawa living in the Mansfield area since 1947. She married Chief Petty Officer, Clifford D. Kurbad of U.S.N. during WWII in Okinawa. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Mrs. Kurbad enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining and was an accomplished seamstress. She dearly loved her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Bradley Thomas Kurbad of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy & Jim Kennedy of Baytown, Texas and Jackie & Richard West of Mansfield; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Kurbad of Baytown, Texas; 9 grandchildren and spouses, Dawn & Von Young of Baytown, Texas, Angie Griffith of Mansfield, Tammy & Satoshi Takeda of Houston, Texas, Brad & Carla Kennedy of Humble, Texas, Nicki Buckler of Mansfield, Heidi Kurbad of Baytown, Texas, Deanna & Jeremy Taylor of Mansfield, Rick & Heather West of Mansfield and Tony Kurbad of Baytown, Texas; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nakamura; husband, Clifford D. Kurbad; two sons, Dennis D. and Jeffrey S. Kurbad; and a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy S. & Merle Moore.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services to be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
