Nelda M. Ray Shaffer, age 60, of 186 N. Main, Lucas, Ohio died early Sunday morning at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Shaffer was born in Covington, Virginia on January 21, 1942 and has been an area resident since 1959. Mrs. Shaffer was a twenty- year employee of Them-O-Disc, a graduate of Butler High School and was an avid race car fan.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Shaffer of 34 years; Charles twin brother and wife, Homer and Evelyn Shaffer, a niece Gail Shaffer-Prion of Mansfield and several other nieces and nephews,. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearly and Minnie Bess Ray, one sister, Dorothy Sheriff, and one brother, Robert Ray.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. with calling hours one hour prior in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Burial will be held Friday, May 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
