Believing in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her Savior, she was blessed with a long, healthy life filled with memories of her loved ones who preceded her. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mansfield and attended Adario Methodist Church as a young girl. Although she was hearing impaired since the age of 7 due to measles, she taught herself to play piano and later enjoyed playing hymns on her electric organ, giving her many hours of enjoyment in the long winter months. She enjoyed feeding and watching "her" cardinals and hummingbirds, and now she will also enjoy the birds singing and chirping. As a young married woman and mother, she always planted a garden and enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor. Later in life, she enjoyed planting flowers and the colors and designs that could only be found in God's world.
We will miss her cooking, baking, and hosting family dinners on Sunday. We remember her fried chicken, dressing, gravy, spaghetti, pies, Christmas pinwheel and snowball cookies. Always concerned about weather reports, Dick Godard was her go-to meteorologist and Olive was thrilled to meet him in person. She was able to enjoy Skype with Dave and Sue this past winter when they were in Florida. She couldn't believe they were on TV. She retired from Therm-O-Disc and enjoyed many trips with family and friends from coast to coast, including Canada.
Olive dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with visits from her nieces where they reminisced about the old days. She could recall dates of birthdays, anniversaries and deaths of everyone important to her. Olive was deeply touched by cards and correspondence from friends and family. She kept these, along with various news clippings, safely secured in numerous shoe boxes.
Olive is survived by a son, David Kimble and his wife, Sue, of Lexington; daughter, Jolene Melching and her husband, Jim, of Mansfield; granddaughter, Stacie Moore of Mansfield; grandsons, Edward (Pam) Kimble of Perrysville, Michael (Amy) Kimble of Mansfield and Jeffrey (Hope) Kimble of Tennessee; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one step granddaughter; eight step great-grandchildren; and three step great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kimble in 1970; parents, Herman and Ada Leona (Forbes) Kochenderfer; brother, Raymond Kochenderfer; and sisters, Ada Pickworth, Evelyn Lake Wade and Viva Kochenderfer.
We admire Olive for her strength and thank her for her love, concern, wit and wisdom. We thank her for giving us life, protecting us and simply being our mom.
Olive spoke softly, "I'm sure gonna miss you" and we whispered, "We'll see you on the other side".
The family thanks Harbor Light Hospice for their extended care of Olive.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor John A. Wiseman of Victory Baptist Church will officiate the service. Olive will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park beside her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adario United Methodist Church.
