
Oneita Mardell Raikes-Reger, 88, of Mansfield, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Liberty Nursing Center in Mansfield. Born November 22, 1921, in Frenchton, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Hoy Jasper and Ressie May Phillips-Raikes. She moved to Mansfield, Ohio at the age of 20 to marry her childhood sweetheart, Guy Bernell Reger on June 7, 1941. She attended schools in Buckhannon and Fairmont, West Virginia. A homemaker, she became part owner of EZE Rental Center in Mansfield, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Guy B. Reger; a son, Ronald B. Reger of Safety Harbor, FL; a daughter, Patricia D. Reger-Crowley and her husband James of Mansfield; granddaughters, Tracy Reger of Clearwater, FL, Jill Crowley-Taylor and her husband Josh of Mansfield; grandsons, Vincent B. Reger of Las Vegas, NV and Matthew T. Crowley of Mansfield; great grandchildren, Thea and Ethan Crowley both of Mansfield; brother, Hoy Junior Raikes of Cedar Hill, TX; brother-in-law, Loyal C.Tressie Reger of Queen Anne, MD; sisters-in-law, Madeline Reger-Hosaflook, Mavedell Reger both of Buckhannon, WV, Goldie Tinsley of Scott Depot, WV, Ada Paul Tenney of Canal Fulton and Leevern Reger of Rock Cave, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bland U. Raikes, Merwyn G. Lona Raikes, Harold K. Raikes and Odbert U. Raikes; and a sister, Regina N. Raikes-Helmick; sisters-in-law, Maxine Sayre and Genevieve Bunner; brothers-in-law, Carl Helmick, Ernie Reger, Waldo J. Reger, Wayne Kesling, Warren H. Hosaflook, Oscar Sayer and Orvil S. Reger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield conducted by Pastor Aaron Rose. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Friends may call from 11:30-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
