
Paul D. Brooks, 70, of Mansfield died Saturday morning, October 11, 2003 at SCCI Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 6, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Walter and Maude Dale Smith Brooks and was a Mansfield area resident the past 33 years. Until his retirement, he was employed for 37 years at General Motors in the W.E.M.R. department. He also was formerly the Marshal in Lucas for many years. Paul was a member of Berean Baptist Church and was a member of A.A.R.P., the Johnny Appleseed Square Dancers, and Venus Lodge #152, F. & A.M. He also was an avid golfer. Paul was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan L. Love Brooks; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Paul and Barbara Brooks of Columbus, Mike and Rhonda Brooks of Fredericktown and Eric Curtis of Lexington; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and Steve Hinton, Wendy and Bob Marsell, all of Mt. Vernon and Traci Curtis of Lexington; one grandson, Michael; eight granddaughters, Rachel, Jessica, Nikki, Valene, Ashley, Tiffany, Laura, and Mackenna; his special companions, Midnight and Angel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; four sisters; and a son, Jimmy Brooks.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, October 14 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Jim Berry will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
