Paul Burghard, Sr.

Paul Lewis Burghard, Sr., 76, of Butler, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at his residence. Born July 22, 1932, in Mansfield, he was the son of Elmer and Mary L. Scheier Burghard. Paul worked as an iron worker for Whitacre Engineering Company, retiring in 1992 after 44 years. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local #550 and was an avid coon hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Judy A. Burghard of Butler; daughters, Vickie Sonny Barber of Mansfield, Sandy Tim Steller of Brooklyn, MI, and Teri Mike Hood of Columbus; step sons, John Susan Grose of Keningston, PA, and Robert Ginny Grose of Mansfield; grandchildren, Mel Barber, John Steller, Josh and Andy Beitel, Jarod and Cameron Hood, Monica Dan Schleicher, and Abby Steller; great grandchildren, Branden and Sierra Barber, and Pierston Beitel; sister, Norma Raitch of Minneapolis, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Paul Burghard, Jr.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Dr. Johnny Heckart. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
